Queer Liberation under Genocide

Les Grands Carmes welcomes Brussels for Palestine to host Omar Khatib in a conversation moderated by Nduwanje about queer liberation under Genocide. In this talk, Omar will reflect on their organizing and why can't queer and trans Palestinians be liberated until Israeli settler colonialism is dismantled, and what queer liberation means under genocide.

This conversation explores the relationship between settler colonialism and queer life in Palestine, asking how systems of colonial domination shape not only political realities but also the possibilities of intimacy, community, safety, and collective liberation.

Omar Khatib is a queer writer and organizer from Jerusalem, Palestine. Omar's work focuses on gender, sexuality, and resistance under settler colonialism. He organized across Palestine for over nine years, including six years with the leading Palestinian queer organization, alQaws, and was detained for 16 months in the brutal Israeli prisons during the genocide.
