Yoga is more than just a physical workout. It is a chance to escape from the outside world and reconnect with yourself. At Grands Carmes, we offer yoga classes with a gentle and sensitive approach to trauma, accessible to everyone no matter how experienced you are.
What makes our yoga classes so different?
Our yoga classes usually begin with a moment to center yourself, allowing you to clear your mind, feel your emotions and relax. These “relaxing moments” are followed by breathing exercises.
The first one, relatively short, is called Prānāyāma, its name referring to the act of breathing suspension. Its aim is to create an optimal state for inner exploration and self-realization.
Then, the second breathing exercise is Āsana, a longer movement practice, which aims to cultivate balance, flexibility, strength and awareness in the body.
Finally, our yoga session concludes with a final relaxation, Śavāsana, to manage your stress, relieve tension and improve your well-being.
A safe space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community
Here at Grands Carmes, we place an important emphasis on creating a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ individuals, which is why we prioritize them. We believe that everyone should feel included, respected and free to be themselves, without fear of judgement. Our classes offer an encouraging environment where all identities are embraced.
Access, language and practical information
It is important to note that the studio has a few steps to enter, which sadly makes it inaccessible to wheelchairs. As we stated before, we want everyone to be included, which is why we are being transparent about this so that you can act accordingly.
Classes are typically in French, however, on request, the teacher Anoushka can teach classes in English.
We have a flexible contribution between 5€ and 15€, however, we do want you to know that if this price range doesn’t suit you, you can text Anoushka to discuss it, as we think that money should not come in the way of your well-being.
